Ried BRUCK

Ried BRUCK Riesling

The Bruck covers 12 hectares in total and every square metre of it makes it clear that we are at the outer limits of viticulture. Its slope is steep throughout and the rows of vines must be supported by stone walls. If you stand on its crest, you can’t see the foot of its slope. These are tough conditions for us and for the vines, which blast their way through layers of orthogneiss and occasional interbeds of mica schist and amphibolite to reach nourishment. The surface soil is shallow and sandy and ensures easy water drainage even during heavier rainfall.

Our plots in the Bruck are located at just under 400 metres above sea level. They are exposed to the southwest. In the morning it is often extremely chilly there, and during the day sometimes very windy. In the evening, however, the vines enjoy sunlight and warmth until the late hours. All these factors leave their mark on our Ried BRUCK Riesling and shape its character. It combines playful lightness with a punchy, vertical structure on the palate. The crystal-clear Riesling aroma is subtly interwoven in a compact, but at the same time, delicate body with smoky minerality and cool acidity.
